UGLASS

Jukjeon Rest Area

Architect : Las General Architectural Office

Product : P26/60/7, Solar, low iron, sanding

The clever use of U-Glass, applied continuously across the upper facade of the Jukjeon Rest Area, stands out.

The addition of U-Glass to this public rest facility, which sees a high volume of foot traffic, has elevated the space's elegance to a new level.

Due to the characteristics of the site, the Jukjeon Rest Area features a horizontal structure that stretches long across the ground. Had the upper finish been concrete or opaque panels, the building would have appeared heavy and stifling.

However, by enveloping the entire upper section with a translucent U-Glass band, the design conveyed a sense of lightness, making the building appear as if it were gently opening toward the sky.

For drivers fatigued from long-distance driving, a rest area is a space that must be intuitively recognizable even from a distance.

At night, the U-Glass facade absorbs internal lighting to emit a long, horizontal light, forming a "Floating Light Bar" that is on a completely different level from stimulating neon signs, offering a soft and serene glow. This serves as an excellent public landmark that elegantly announces the presence of the rest area from a distance without causing visual fatigue to drivers on the highway.
